Sun In Winter is a bedroom recording project of Finn Gilroy, a university student from Dunedin, New Zealand. Heavily influenced by Lo fi, shoegaze, drone, doom, indie rock, post rock/metal and inspired especially by acts such as 'The Cure', 'Joy Division', 'This Will Destroy You', 'Year of No Light', 'Rosetta', 'Have a Nice Life', 'Isis', 'HDU', 'Jakob' etc. This is his first project of hopefully many more.
The record was produced over approximately one year in the murky Dunedin winter where many other bands take their inspiration, although it has been in conceptualization for a very long time. It has a very personal and heavy quality to it - you can really hear the effort that was put in, and it was no laughing matter.
